Matt Peover

I’ve taught acting since 2000, alongside my work as a director and theatre maker.

Character Body has developed through that work with actors over 26 years. I’m interested in what happens when we give the body and imagination our full attention, and let a character’s life become something we experience from within.

My work has been strongly influenced by Michael Chekhov and Peter Brook. In the room, I value being present with the actor: noticing what happens, following what’s alive, and giving discoveries the time they need.
